This research article investigates the impact of different deep breathing exercises on sleep quality and heart rate in healthy young adults. Participants were randomly assigned to one of three groups: forced deep breathing cycles (FDBC), non-forced deep breathing cycles (N-FDBC), and a breathing control group. Results showed that N-FDBC significantly improved sleep parameters, including sleep quality, total sleep time, and sleep latency, while also lowering heart rate. FDBC yielded some positive effects, but also increased sleep latency. The breathing control group showed no significant changes. The study used smartwatches to measure sleep and heart rate parameters.
